The Boerne Beat is a monthly gathering of poets and poet lovers at the Patrick Heath Public Library, where on the first Monday of each month at 9:15 a.m. anyone interested in coming to participate in an hour of poetry and coffee are welcome. Topics vary each month and cover a wide range of themes and poet. In addition, many of the poets bring their own poetry to read and share. Occasionally the Beat will trek outside the library walls to participate in other poetry read evenings in San Antonio or the Hill Country.
For the past two years, the group has hosted an annual poetry evening read, sponsored by the Boerne Public Library Foundation, in honor of National Poetry Month in April. In 2010, this event took place at The Bear Moon Bakery. This past year, it was hosted at Fritze's BBQ.
This year's festival will occur at the Patrick Heath Public Library and span several days. We are excited to offer poetry for teens and adults and are looking forward to welcoming David Parsons and Karla Morton.
What an amazing experience. It was so nice to hear and share stories with talented poets.
