Looking for a great excuse to throw a fun party for a good cause? The Boerne Public Library Foundation’s signature event, The Moveable Feasts, are gearing up for 2012.
Each event highlights a favorite book or theme for the host or hostess. The Foundation pays for invitations and postage and manages the ticket sale process. Each host decides on a date, a theme, the scale and size of the party (which could range from afternoon tea for 10 to full blown evening dinner for 100) and hosts the party as their gift to the library cause. Proceeds raised from Moveable Feasts go toward funding programs and exhibitions for the Patrick Heath Public Library.
We would love to talk with you about hosting a Moveable Feast in the future!

As the size of our library grows so does the need for additional equipment and programming. The patronage of the Patrick Heath Public Library has grown exponentially as our community discovers the treasure that we have been given. The Boerne Public Library Foundation is committed to a continued partnership with our Library by bringing equipment and programming needs to our community.
Our Sound Minds Sound Bodies initiative was born out of the desire to provide our community with enrichment from many different aspects. Research shows that libraries that have playgrounds increase their patrons as well as patron satisfaction. The grounds of the Patrick Heath Public Library are serving as an educational experience with the informative panels which describe the ground water issues and conservation efforts we are using, the native plants and the railways of yesterday.
The Boerne Public Library Foundation is passionate about history and capturing that history as told by the individuals who lived it. We are fortunate to still have a few citizens that remember what life was like in the Hill Country 75 years ago. Their stories of life during wars, droughts, floods and growth are being brought to life with our Texas Hill Country Oral History Program.
Our first Oral History Project was on WWII veterans of Kendall County. The Greatest Generation of Kendall County paired middle school students with veterans in an interview setting. It was inspiring to see the children interact with the veterans. It was powerful for everyone to see the emotion evoked from the questions and to appreciate the toll of war even 65 years later.
When construction began on the Patrick Heath Public Library, it is safe to say that the utilization of the space as an art gallery was not a part of the discussion. As the space came together, it was clear that our community was being given a gift of a library that offered much more than just books. As the Grand Opening grew closer, we realized that the space set aside in our new library for art exhibition could have a rich cultural impact for our community. The Boerne Public Library Foundation is committed to the arts community and looks forward to partnering with the library and the community to bring art to our area on a regular basis.
This year year marks the 60th Birthday of the Boerne library and there are many ways we intend to celebrate. With the growth and increased interest in our library, we need your help to support library programs, capital needs and community projects that impact us all. Please help us make 2012 our best year yet.
